As a center of intense intellectual inquiry, the campus Library shares with students the aspiration to be the most dynamic learning environment in the Sanskrit world. Our vision is rooted in the belief that a library should be more than just a repository of books; it should be a vibrant hub of knowledge and discovery. To achieve this, the Library ensures that its collections remain forward-looking, open to browsing, and of world-renowned quality. This commitment to excellence means continually updating our collections to reflect the latest research and scholarly advancements in various fields. By doing so, we provide our users with access to cutting-edge information and resources.
Moreover, the Library continues to embrace change and align itself to thrive on diversity. We recognize that the needs of our users are constantly evolving, and we strive to adapt to these changes by incorporating new technologies, expanding our digital collections, and offering innovative services. Our goal is to create an inclusive environment where everyone feels welcome and supported in their academic pursuits. We believe that diversity enriches the learning experience and fosters a deeper understanding of different perspectives and cultures.
The library’s mission is to provide comprehensive resources and services in support of the research, teaching, and needs of the scholars' community. We are dedicated to fostering an environment that encourages intellectual curiosity, critical thinking, and lifelong learning. Our mission extends beyond simply providing access to books and journals; we aim to be an integral part of the academic journey of our users.
One of our primary objectives is to ensure the preservation and long-lasting availability of library collections and resources. This involves implementing state-of-the-art preservation techniques and collaborating with other institutions to safeguard valuable materials for future generations. By doing so, we contribute to the continuity of knowledge and the advancement of scholarship.

Our staff is trained to assist users in navigating our collections, conducting research, and utilizing various resources effectively. We offer a range of services, including research consultations, information literacy workshops, and interlibrary loan services, to help our users achieve their academic goals.
We encourage the process of learning and the life of the mind. We believe that education is a lifelong journey and that libraries play a crucial role in supporting this journey. To meet the changing needs of the Library and its users, we continuously evolve and adapt. This includes staying abreast of technological advancements, exploring new ways to deliver information, and enhancing our physical and digital spaces. We are committed to innovation and are always looking for new opportunities to improve our services and resources.
Supporting individual growth and organizational development is another core value of our Library. We provide opportunities for professional development and encourage our staff to pursue their own educational goals. By investing in our staff, we ensure that they are well-equipped to support our users and contribute to the Library’s mission.
Maintaining a comfortable, secure place of study, research, work, reflection, and interaction is essential to our values. We strive to create a welcoming atmosphere where users can focus on their work, collaborate with others, and engage in intellectual exploration. Our facilities are designed to accommodate a variety of study needs, from quiet individual study areas to collaborative workspaces.
To ensure that the Library remains a conducive environment for study and research, we have established a set of general rules that all users must adhere to. These rules are designed to protect the integrity of our collections and maintain a respectful and orderly atmosphere.
First and foremost, a person shall not write upon, damage, or mark any book belonging to the Library. This rule is essential for preserving our collections and ensuring that resources remain in good condition for future users. If a person is responsible for any damage caused by them to the books or any other property belonging to the Library, they shall be required to pay the penalty imposed upon them by the Librarian. This policy helps deter damage and holds individuals accountable for their actions.
The Security Guard at the Library gate will check all personal belongings, including Library books issued to a member, to prevent theft and ensure that all items are properly accounted for. Personal books shall not be allowed inside the Library; users are required to leave them at the Property Counter. This rule helps maintain the integrity of our collections and prevents unauthorized materials from being brought into the Library.
The use of mobile phones in the Library is prohibited to maintain a quiet and focused study environment. Users are encouraged to step outside if they need to make or receive a call. Additionally, the reader should check the books before borrowing to ensure that these are not damaged. If a book is found to be damaged or certain pages are missing, the borrower should get this statement recorded on the book; otherwise, they shall be held responsible for the damage discovered at the time of returning the books. This policy helps ensure that any pre-existing damage is documented and that users are not unfairly held responsible.
Smoking, pan chewing, and spitting in the Library are prohibited to maintain a clean and healthy environment. Photography is not allowed within the Library to protect the privacy of our users and the integrity of our collections. Lastly, membership privileges of a user can be suspended on account of misbehavior with the Library staff or for indecent manners. This rule is in place to ensure that all users and staff are treated with respect and that the Library remains a safe and welcoming place for everyone.
By adhering to these rules and upholding our vision, mission, and values, the campus Library aims to be a beacon of knowledge, a sanctuary for learning, and a community hub where intellectual curiosity and academic excellence thrive. We invite all users to join us in this endeavor and make the most of the resources and opportunities available at the Library.
